Question Asked

Is obeying the same as honoring your father and mother?

If you are saved and your feelings on topics in the Bible differ from your parents, and you tell them your feelings and they regard it as disobedience and dishonoring, Does that make you a bad christian? and what if your pastor or others (bible scholars, relatives, etc.) agree with you?

Obeying and Honoring Are Not the Same

This is a great question because it focuses on two words that appear in the same verse in the Bible, both relating to our parents: obey and honor. The verse is Ephesians 6:1, and it goes like this:

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother'--which is the first commandment with a promise--that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy a long life on the earth."

I couldn't agree more, there is nothing more important in life than your family... well maybe your health but besides that you should always respect your parents, no matter what.

This is really true. It is actually written in the bible. - YOR Health

Honoring your father is more important that obeying him, because your father is human just like you and your father won't be always right, so try to honor him better.
